Why Is Your Central Air Conditioner Leaking Water
Clogged Drain Line One reason why your central air conditioning could be leaking water is that the drainpipe is clogged or blocked. Central air conditioners create a lot of condensation during the home cooling process so there is a drain hole for the removed water on your unit. The condensation is usually drawn down a condensation line, which drains to the outside of the home. Sometimes this can get blocked with dirt or other debris. Check the tubing to see if this is the case. The drain line should be cleaned out before the beginning of every season. Clear the blockage if there is one, as it will allow the water to properly exit the condenser pan and you should see the pooling stop. If not, algae may appear in the line, causing it to clog and leaks to occur. |
